...but since when do adventurers stick to tackling things that are in their own league?

You could easily base an entire campaign around something like this by giving the PCs the sword early on, while the ancient evil which desires it is just being &quot;reborn.&quot; At first, its limited power and resources are able to post little threat, but as the PCs gain power so does it. You could easily, and realistically, keep it a thorn in their sides throughout their entire career, and when they start to get more powerful amp up the interference and build up towards an epic show down!</description>
