The Cake is Alive

The PCs are invited to a birthday party for the mayor of a large town. It’s a great feast with lots of good food and merriment. At the end of the night, a huge cake is hauled out into the town square. Just as the mayor is about to cut into the cake, two eyes pop open in the frosting. The cake grows hands and legs, grabbing the mayor and attempting to run off with him.

  1. A dessert golem? Reminds me of the calzone golem from one of the wizards’s mini-adventures. Cool idea.

  2. I musta missed that one…

Although I do recall an old April edition of Dragon (or maybe InQuest?) which had rules for dorito and cheetoh monsters, spilled soda oozes, etc. Teach those butterfingered players to keep their snacks off the mat!

    Hmm, butterfinger monster…

  3. Reminds me of a large-scale gingerbread golem I saw stats for somewhere.

  4. Wow, I just used this in a 3.5 adventure, and all my players thought I was kidding. For them being who they are, they took it fairly seriously. One of them said that if the cake led them to a wizard baker, he’d quit. It was great, keep up the good work Asmor!
