Monster Maker 3.0

I’ve just completed work on Monster Maker 3.0!

This is a big milestone, as I’ve finally got an oft-requested feature implemented. You can not add sections to your monster, such as tactics and knowledge checks. There’s even a button that automatically generates a template for the knowledge checks based on the monster’s origin and level.

If you’ve already used Monster Maker, make sure you copy over your old 4e.css with the new one, as it contains all the info needed for formatting the sections! If you’ve made any customizations to your old 4e.css, you’ll need to re-apply them to this one. Sorry. :/

Another great new feature is that, if you export the HTML to a directory which doesn’t have 4e.css already, the program will offer to copy it there for you. Hopefully this will cut down on people e-mailing me to ask why the thing doesn’t look right. :D

There were also some minor bug fixes.

  1. Love the monster maker. 2.4 runs perfectly on my computer. However, 3.0 keeps giving me an error with Windows Vista. It says ‘Monster Maker has stopped working.”

Any one else have any issues?

  2. Are there any other details?

Do you have the .Net Framework version 3.5 installed?

  3. Let me check on the 3.5 thing. I did not check on it because 2.4 runs so well.

As for the note it only says that it has stopped working then windows tries to restart it without success.

  4. As always it is the easiest thing. the 3.5 net fixed it. Keep up the good work, so I can keep hassling you about easily fixable items ;)

  5. No problem, glad you got it working. I’m not sure what happened between 2.4 and 3.0, 2.4 was targetted at .Net 3.5 as well. so theoretically should have required it… 3.0 is the first time AFAICT I actually used something unique to .Net 3.5, though (due in large part to poor planning, it’s surprisingly difficult to keep track of the order of things. I could ignore that for powers, but it’s kind of important for sections).

There have been a lot of problems with people not being able to run this until they get 3.5.
