FLIR!

What’s FLIR, you say? Well, besides being really fun to say (try it!), FLIR stands for Facelift Image Replacement. It’s a technique for replacing text automatically with an image of that text, specifically so that you can include fonts in your pages that your visitors may not have.

So what’s that mean to you? Future posts here with stat blocks will look right even if you don’t have the 4e icons installed. You can see an example at my giant mutant farm animals post. Older posts won’t work with this, because they were made with an older version of monster maker which had some… problems. :)

A big thanks to SeiferTim who not only discovered this thing, but wrote up a great tutorial on implementing FLIR.

  1. Looks awesome! Yeah, I think I need to clean up some of my older posts… after changing things around on my site, a lot of stuff is broken… as soon as I find the time to work on it :P
