About Me
Hey, my name’s Ian Toltz, and I go by Asmor online. I’m a life-long, dedicated gamer. Started on video games when I was but a wee little one, and I’ve since moved on to the hard stuff; board games, card games and, of course, RPGs.
I consider myself a novice (and pretty bad!) dungeon master, but everyone’s gotta start somewhere. This is just one of the things I’m doing to help get better at DMing. If it helps someone else out… all the better!

Hi,
I was wondering if you would be interested in a link exchange with a fellow game blogger? check out my site and see if it would be a good fit.
Thank you,
Trask
Ian, would you like to build, or let me to build, a random generator from your encounter seeds? Many of your entries are very evocative and would make a good oracle to the effect of Art, Grace and Guts oracle (refresh the page for more oracle entries; editing and making oracles requires free registration).

You are totally welcome to do whatever you’d like to do with anything I write, as long as I retain credit for the parts I’m directly responsible for.
I’ve been wanting to build a random encounter generator for a while, but I’m picky about my generators. For example, I don’t care much for the one you link since it’s really more of a “Random item from a pre-made list” generator. I like generators which actually generate new and unpredictable things. For example, I created a adventure seed generator and computerized some random tables from Dragon and d20 Past to make the Martial Arts Technique Generator and the Pulp Sci-Fi Invention Generator.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the style of generator you posted, it’s just not something I’m interested in working on.
Those kinds of generators need actual creativity or a good deposit of generators to start from. (Abulafia has those too; this one by yours truly, though some time ago: http://random-generator.com/index.php?title=Champion_of_darkness)
I’ll see if I have time to compile a bit something from your stuff in a few days. There will be credit and links, worry not.

Connecting the entries to posts here is left as an exercise for the reader.

That’s pretty cool, actually. When you condense my long, rambling posts down to a single line they don’t seem so bad.
Hey, I just found this website after it was suggested to me in my Google Reader, and I have to say, as a long-time gamer, and as of now, novice DM, I’m really glad to have found it. It’s hard to find quality, reliable DM aids outside of DDI, and this is going to be one of my most checked websites on my long list of google reader sites.
Keep up the great work!
Hi Asmor,
First I would like to start by obligatorily saying that I very much enjoy your blog and your problems especially since I found both of them. I was just wondering, since the discontinuation of Monster Maker, what do you use to create custom monsters? I’ve been struggling with Adventure Tools but haven’t had much luck with it, sticking with Monster Maker especially since it has wiki output (I have a wiki! for the campaign setting I’m developing)
Do you use adventure tools or something else? Thanks
I use the adventuring tools.
